When we first met she was wearing a purple top hat at a poetry circus event she'd
helped to create. I joined in that weekend, happy to trade city life for camping
overnight in a nearby canyon. She spoke passionately about archetypes and Carl Jung
and months later, when I realized she was a professional clown, I knew I would follow
her.
