"Would you please come along to photograph my mother's last limousine
ride?"
For the first opera singer of African descent to have starred with the Los
Angeles Philarmonic, limousines had become routine enough to be familiar.

The idea for a ride had come while recovering from her most recent
hospitalization. Lucy requested to see all the homes she had owned in the
city. She invited me back the following week to photograph her sculpting;
but she peacefully passed a few days after the limo ride.

No doubt G-d was happy to have added such
a gifted singer to heaven's choir of angels.
